Online ordering has become a need-to-have service for most modern cannabis retailers. The benefits are clear - online ordering encourages customer loyalty, and produces up to 70% average larger shopping baskets. Even still, many retailers still struggle to get their online ordering service really performing to its potential, whether with new or existing customers.

Buddi works with over 400 cannabis retailers, and we’ve seen what works, and what doesn’t. Here are our top five strategies that you can use to increase traffic to your online menu:

1. Collections

This exclusive Buddi feature is a powerful way to stand out amongst your competitors. Collections appear as customized buttons across the top of your menu to present a variety of products in an eye-catching way. Each set can be on any subject that you can imagine. Some examples include product categories, flavour profiles, terpenes, and experiences.

Collections add functionality to your online menu as an up-sell and cross-sell feature. Targeted customers can quickly filter the menu and be exposed to new products they are likely interested in but did not know about.

It is a powerful tool that you can use to reach a wider audience. Whenever you create a collection, Buddi automatically generates a unique page URL, and you can put this link just about anywhere on your website. For instance, you can create a post about it on social media and add a collection link to the post. Users (of age) can begin shopping right away!

With Buddi, you can launch your own banner campaigns featuring select menu items. A banner image is used to represent these Featured Products and it goes across the top of the menu to engage with your customers. You can launch separate campaigns for each channel (In-Store Tablet Menu + Online Menu).

Examples of banner campaigns include New Arrivals, Staff Picks, Top Sellers, and Flash Sale. You can increase the average shopping basket size by showcasing special products.

Similar to Collection images, your custom banner can add visual appeal and create brand awareness. It can be used as an opportunity to tell a story or add a personal touch to your brand. This makes an impression and builds customer loyalty.

3. Window Stickers + QR Codes

Window Stickers and QR Codes are an easy way to increase sales. You can promote your online menu to customers who are at the store, so they know they’re able to order online any time.

First, you would create a QR code that links the user directly to your online menu. From there he/she would have the ability to save the menu to their phones for viewing later.

Buddi’s Window Clings have checkboxes at the bottom to indicate whether you offer Pick-Up, Delivery (when allowed), or both.

4. Promote on Your Social Media

Let customers know that Click & Collect is available as an option for them. Promote it on social media by adding your online menu URL to Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter. Include it in your store’s voicemail greeting. The more you talk about it, the more it is an opportunity for you to make more sales!

5. Have Staff Promote It

It’s unlikely customers will visit your website just because, so it’s important to let customers know that the convenience of ordering online is available to them simply by visiting your website. Have staff inform customers during checkout, or even hand out small pamphlets in a customers shopping bag.
